One of my new year’s resolutions was to get fit and as I always think a little challenge helps the motivation I decided I would attempt an Ironman triathlon – a 2.5 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride followed by a 26 mile marathon. Oh, and it has to be complete in 17 hours – just to make it that extra bit challenging!
Unfortunately I can only swim breaststroke, not been on a bike since I was a kid and although once did do a marathon it was over 20 years ago.
To say this is quite a big challenge for me is similar to saying Everest is quite a big hill. What could possibly go wrong…
6th August 2014: Latest update on the ironman training – my right knee has started swelling up when I run on it – probably due to the fact that every time I go out on the bike and fall off that’s the knee I fall on, which is everytime I go out on the bike.
So as only 12 days to the race I am stopping running and cycling training so will be able to get to the start line in one piece. Apparently supposed to tail off training 2 weeks before the race anyway so all going perfectly to plan. Click here for more!

18th August 2014: I am an ironman! Obviously was last in race- finished in 16 hours 50 minutes, 10 minutes later and I would have been disqualified. Much quicker though and I would obviously have done too much training. Didn’t even fall off the bike once… Click here for more!
